Settlement and Airline tickets

We just spent a few relaxing days at the beach thanks to Mom and Dad Denlinger sharing their vacation with us! What a much needed time of enjoying time together as a family amidst the chaos! 3 days was enough, on the fourth day, we got confirmation of settlement date on our house! Everything with the inspection and appraisal went through smoothly and we are scheduled to settle Thursday, Sept 30th! This ended the relaxing and brought us quickly back to reality and planning. We have 5 filled days to get everything done at the house. We just purchased one-way tickets to Port-au-Prince for Thursday, Oct 14th!
We are all relieved to be moving into this next phase, as the past 12 months we have been living with a lot of unknowns and unanswered questions. We know things won't be mapped out for us to see the path ahead like we would want. We continue to learn to trust God as he guides us through this path He has given us. As we move out of the past unknowns and unanswered questions, we enter new ones and hope we can have more faith and trust than we did before.
In addition to moving from our house, we will also be doing school with our kids, meeting with several people about AWAKENHAITI's ministry/trips, and spending time with friends and family. It will no doubt be a whirlwind, but we know God is present as we sense the peace even within our kids because they now know when we will be saying goodbye to our home and all they have known.
Thank you again for prayers already spoken on our behalf. If you think of us, please pray for us as we go about our next few days to be patient with each other as a family and to continue to see God admidst the chaos.

Why did I worry?

We see God's timing becoming very clear this week. We got a call we didn't expect last week about the container being cleared and delivered. When I say we didn't expect it, I mean we expected it on our own timing in July and August when we were in Haiti, then we learned to let it go so much it came before we knew it. Our house is set up enough that when we arrive with our kids, things will look a bit familiar to them even in a foreign country.

I was struggling to decide on schooling for the girls for weeks. I have been praying for God's guidance and discernment in this and I wasn't sure if my expectations were too much, but wasn't satisfied with the programs I had been researching. Over the weekend I stumbled upon Morning Star Academy online and now all three children will be schooling online with this awesome Christian school!

Monday evening we received a call from David Hooke (an amazing realtor I must say) and the buyers for our house have signed a lease to rent their house which means we are ready to move forward with home inspections this Saturday and should have a settlement date very soon. Most likely we will settle at the end of the month.
So why did I worry? I tried to have faith in God's timing and I know His is always better than mine, but still I did worry and I did try to do some things on my own. I have to go back to Proverbs 3:5-6
Many praises to our God who is in control and who is interested in our lives and who proves to be faithful over and over!

Container is unloaded!

What a whirlwind. Literally 50 hours after we got the call on Monday that the container was being released from customs, it is officially unloaded completely! Jeff called this afternoon to say it is finished and now there is a lot of work to be done. Some much needed items will be picked up and transported to Jacmel for Freedom Grace Orphanage as they move forward with the construction of their new building. Jeff and Marv will be delivering beds, matresses, other furniture and supplies to the Good Samaritan boys orphanage. They will be setting up beds, furniture, and supplies for the girls at Good Samaritan.
I have to step outside of my reality for a moment when I write this because setting up beds for my own children is completely different from anything these children have known. My kids have always had a bed, their own bed with sheets and covers and a pillow. The children at Good Samaritan eat and go to school because of the sponsorships here partnering with the Cazeaus, but this has never been a reality for them. These beds represent so much. A new beginning. People here giving more time, resources, and love is the beginning of a new day for these children as they move out of what was and into what will be with this partnership providing hope for a better future. THANK YOU to those who have helped provide supplies, furniture, funding, talents, sponsorship, and to those who are considering becoming a sponsor in some way, THANK YOU!
Jeff and Marv will also be sorting containers of items for our guest house so we can prepare for teams serving. THANK YOU to those of you who have helped provide items for the guest house to be well equipped so we can serve those who come to Haiti to serve!
Of course there are a few beds, couches, and supplies for our family there too. Our children will be so blessed to come to Haiti to find their beds, toys and things that are special to them they haven't seen in a few months. We are so thankful for those of you who were so thoughtful in making our house in Haiti comfortable and special for our kids.
A lot of work is ahead for the next several days.
We give all our praise to God for HIS hand has been evident in this from the beginning!
Grateful,
Deb

The Beast is in!

The generator at the guest house is now in place! For those who did not see this beast (measuring 3' x 7' and weighing in at 1000lbs.) when we loaded the container, this was no small feat! They used a forklift at the warehouse yesterday to get it off the container onto a box truck, but it would have cost $600USD to have a forklift come to the house to get it off the box truck so they decided to do it by hand. Jeff, Marv, Max, and Jacque used the 4x4's and PVC sent on the container to slide it off the truck and roll onto the platform built for it to sit on. I wish we had it on video. Fortunately, they are all still in one piece.
Jeff said the look on Max's face when he saw the contents of the container made all the work worthwhile! He can't wait to see the boys and girls at Good Samaritan when they see all that was provided for them! The container is scheduled to arrive at the house 1:30pm our time, 12:30 (or sometime thereafter) Haiti time :)
Thank you again to all who have been part of this container! What a difference this will make for so many!
Bondye Beni Ou, God Bless You!
God has answered our prayers...in His timing!
Again, Bondye Fidel, God is faithful!
