Per Partners With Haiti:
Contact made with Pastor Martinez this evening at 8:15 PM:
- He and Emma are okay
- Maxime, one of our regular team drivers, and his family are ok
- All of the girls, staff of Freedom House and the orphanage bldg. are ok and accounted for.
- AFCA Orphanage girls are ok and accounted for.
- There is a sea of people at AFCA Village, many have come there for a refuge.
We have some sad news to relay, per PWH and the call with Martinez, Pastor Raymond, the father of thr 20 girls at AFCA orphanage and was killed during the earthquake. We have no more details at this time.
Martinez parting words "Haiti is devastated, Haiti is devastated...everything has broken, there is nothing left...we are in need of everything...we are devastated..."
As per Dave Locke - "Schneider and family is OK"
Thoughts from Jeff, Deb and the Team:
For those that did not know Pastor Raymond, he was a man of great faith, love for God and love for people. He always welcomed us with open arms and his gentle spirit was always present. Especially when he walked through the gates of AFCA orphanage and all the girls drop whatever they were doing and all you would hear is "Poppa, Poppa!!!" They they would run to him with excitement as he would open his arms wide to greet his girls with a big smile and a loving embrace. Please keep his wife and the girls of AFCA Orphanage in your prayers in this time of desperation. And Poppa "Nou Renmen ou" (We love you) and you will be greatly missed.
